I recently installed a "Rite Temp" digital thermostat and my house is FREEZING.?

It sounds like you didn't hook up the secondary heat strips when you changed your thermostat. Heat pumps installed in cooler climates cannot heat your house satisfactory just by the heat transfer from the outside air, they need a secondary source of heat.
