How can a tow truck tow a vehicle with the parking brake on? What about front and rear wheel drive?

I often see repo tow trucks around town...Ive even seen some of them with automatic wheel lifts so you dont even have to get out of the cab. The question is...what about the parking brake? And how does front and rear wheel drive come into play?

You ALWAYS have to get out of the cab to secure the wheels onto the wheel lift.

They simply take the ebrake off.
