Why does my Car sputter and then die?

my car is a 1998 pontiac bonneville, with a 167k on the body, but a brand new tranny was put in April 2007 and a replacement engine in 2006. I thought the car shutting off was my alternator, I changed that, a new battery, changed the oil and the oil filter.

It could be a large number of things, i know you don't want to spend lots of money on it but it might be cheaper to let a pro diagnose the problem. a good shade tree mechanic could probably do it, sounds like one of those things where you just have to

floridasport I came into position of a 2000 lincoln continental with only 49k miles it has been driven only a few miles in the last 3-4 years I changed the motor oil right away and the coolant ..but there are several options available with the transmission the Jiffy lube in our area wants to suck out the fluid and use a universal fluid, the dealer will drop the pan and rinse the filter and use the original ford type AFT..at almost 2 times the pricewhats the consensus of everyone out there Thanks.lenny
