longer cold air intake tube outside of engine bay?

I am wondering if a longer cold air intake would be better. I don't have room in my engine bay (05 f250) to move my air intake to a colder spot or wheel well so I am thinking of running an air intake with a longer tube outside of the engine bay to somewhere

When the intake pulls colder air you will end up losing gas mileage until the engine warms up.

That having been said...there are lots of places to duct an intake but it really depends on where you live to decide whether it's a good or
