Should I be covered under my warranty for car failure due to lack of oil?

I bought a used (2002) Alfa Romeo 6 weeks ago from a local dealer. A couple of weeks ago the oil pressure light began to flash and we therefore topped up with 3/4 of a can of oil. The low oil pressure light persisted so this week end we topped up with
